Planet Onston
Çocukluğumuzda sezgisel olarak öğrendiğimiz ve büyüdüğümüzde genellikle unuttuğumuz bazı şeyler var. Dış gerçekliğin işgalci hâkimiyeti karşısında kendine ait bir alana çekilme ve orada düşü bir direnç biçimi olarak geliştirme ve yaşam sevincini sürdürme yeteneği gibi. Ki sanatsal yaratı bizlere bu kayıp becerilerimizi en doğrudan hatırlatabilen kaynaktır.
Planet Onston sergisinde sanatçı Onston/Can Yeşiloğlu da hayalleri içinde şekillenen ve kendini orada mutlu hissettiği bir evreni izleyiciyle paylaşıma açıyor. Nedir bu tahayyülün en göze batan imgeleri? Gezegeni çevreleyen uydudaki kök-sap’lar ile genişleyen dev bir ağaçtan göğe değen birlik hali. Canlı ile cansızın, bitki ile hayvanın, insan ile tekniğin barışçıl bir biçimde iç içe geçtiği; melezleştiği bir uyum hali. Ayrımcılığın, türcülüğün, nefretin egemen olmadığı; oyun, neşe ve ahengin hâkim olduğu bir başka dünya düşü. Ki böyle bir gezegende kedi ile fare kardeş olabilir, ahtapot ve balık ise aşkı yaşayabilirler.
Planet Onston sergisi; sanatçının toplamda üç yıllık bir yoğunlaşma, üretim süreci içinde kâğıt, tuval ve hazır nesne gibi formlar üzerine yaptığı resimler ve desenleri bir araya getiriyor. Sanatçı Onston/Can Yeşiloğlu; desen alanındaki yeteneğini, akrilik ve sulu boya ile yaptığı resimlerdeki plastik doygunluk ile iç içe geçiriyor. Serginin oluşum sürecinde müzisyen Sapienmania’da gezegen imgesinin sembolik gelişimine kaydettiği parçalar ile katkıda bulunarak, Planet Onston’a soundtrack oluşturan bir mini albüm hazırladı. Sergi ile aynı adı taşıyan EP sergi açılışına paralel dijital müzik platformları üzerinden paylaşıma açılacak.
Sonuçta Planet Onston kurgusu; zamanın ütopyasızlığında, gerçekliğin yıkıcılığında ve bu dünyanın boğucu sıkıcılığı karşısında sanat aracılığıyla bir firar denemesidir. Sadece gerçekliğin değil hayal gücünün kendisinin de distopya tarafından tamamen işgal edildiği günümüzde, ütopya biricik özgürlük alanı olarak sanatta ve düşte büyüyecektir.

Planet Onston
There are some things we have heuristically learned but forgotten when we grow old. Just like the skills to withdraw into a space of one’s own, to grow a dream as a resistance and to sustain our joy of living over against intruder dominance of external reality. Such that artistic creation is the most direct source that reminds us these lost skills.
In Planet Onston, artist Onston/Can Yeşiloğlu shares with the audience a universe that is shaped within his dreams and where he feels happy. What are the most prominent images of this imagination? The unity of a giant tree reaching to the sky through rhizomes on a satellite which orbits around the planet. The harmony of alive and dead, plant and animal, human and technique, all peacefully intertwined and hybridised. The dream of another world without discrimination, speciesism, hate; a world dominated by playfulness, joy and harmony. On such planet, a cat and a mouse can be friends, an octopus and a fish can fall in love.
The exhibition Planet Onston gathers the artist's paintings and drawings on paper, canvas and ready-made objects throughout three years of intense production stage. Artist Onston/Can Yeşiloğlu combines his talent in drawings with plastic saturation on his acrylic and water colour paintings. During the formation process of the exhibition, musician Sapienmania has contributed with a mini soundtrack album called Planet Onston, consisting of recordings regarding the symbolic growth of the planet image. Namesake of the exhibition, the EP will be shared on digital music platforms on the day the exhibition welcomes the audience.
In short, the construct of Planet Onston is an artistic attempt to escape from the non-utopic structure of time, the devastation of reality and the overwhelming boredom of this life. At the present time, in which not only the reality but also the imagination has been completely occupied by dystopia, utopia will grow through art and dream as the unique space of freedom.
